3 DAYS DESERT TOUR FROM FES

Day 1: Fes to Midelt to Merzouga (Desert)

• Morning: Depart from Fes early in the morning. Drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing through the charming town of Ifrane, known as “Little Switzerland” for its alpine-style architecture. Stop in Azrou to see the cedar forests and possibly spot Barbary macaques.
• Afternoon: Continue to Midelt, a town nestled between the Middle and High Atlas Mountains, for lunch. Afterward, drive through the Ziz Valley, famous for its palm groves and stunning gorges.
• Evening: Arrive in Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Here, you’ll switch to camels for a trek into the desert. Enjoy a magical sunset over the dunes and spend the night in a traditional Berber camp. Enjoy a delicious dinner, listen to Berber music, and gaze at the star-filled sky.

Day 2: Merzouga Desert Exploration

• Morning: Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, explore the desert region. Visit a nomadic family to learn about their lifestyle, or take a 4×4 tour to discover the surrounding areas, such as the village of Khamlia (known for its Gnawa music) or the fossil mines.
• Afternoon: Return to your desert camp or a nearby hotel for lunch and relaxation. You can also opt for sandboarding or a quad bike adventure on the dunes.
• Evening: Enjoy another night in the desert camp, soaking in the tranquility and beauty of the Sahara.

Day 3: Merzouga to Fes

• Morning: After breakfast, depart Merzouga and begin your journey back to Fes. Drive through the Ziz Valley and stop for lunch in Midelt or another scenic spot.
• Afternoon: Continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains, with possible stops in Ifrane or Azrou for photos and short breaks.
• Evening: Arrive in Fes in the late afternoon or early evening, concluding your desert adventure.
